About the Position:
The Interactive Art Director leads the development of highly refined visual design solutions for Corbis’ evolving image licensing business. The IAD drives the establishment and refinement of visual styles and signatures for our products. In partnership with UX designers and Design Director, the IAD designs digital products and experiences which are intuitive, engaging, and aligned with the broader Corbis brand. This is a hands-on position in Seattle and reports to the Design Director.
Essential Functions:
• The establishment and refinement of visual design product solutions including high-fidelity comps and design specs
• Collaboration with UX, engineering, marketing and sales resources to ideate and iterate on the best solutions to identified business and user goals for a clearly articulated audience
• Ensures a holistic view is taken of the overall customer experience in the development of specific feature solutions
• Iterates on feature concepts, constructs, experiences and details as business requirements, data, and customer feedback is available
• Planning, organization and delivery for visual design deliverables that supports an iterative Agile development environment with a regular cadence of product releases.
• Works hand-in-hand with frontend and backend developers to support an efficient and organized development process.
• Partnership with marketing resources and broader Corbis brand leads to ensure a clear understanding of the details of a product UI and the marketing of that product
Responsibilities Include:
• Rapid, detailed design ideation as features are evolved and refined
• Leading team members through visual design reviews, effectively communicating the nuances of a design approach and gathering meaningful team feedback
• The creation and delivery of highly organized visual design files and the appropriate level of design annotations that meet developer needs and support timely production and delivery. This includes asset walk thrus with remote team members via Skype or other screensharing tools.
• Collaboration across product teams within Corbis to leverage common experiences and UI solutions across our brand landscape
• Contributes to user documentation and the creation of training materials.
• Oversight and update of product and brand visual design style guides
• Works with Marketing leads and outside resources as necessary to support product marketing and promotional material development
• Auditing existing design solutions and related materials in the marketplace for design research and ideation
Qualifications:
• 5 years of professional experience of hands-on art direction for interactive projects
• Is passionate, detail-obsessed, articulate and demonstrates problem-solving skills
• Is forward thinking and flexible; Comfortable dealing with an organization in the midst of change
• Works successfully with both minimal supervision and hands-on collaborative leadership
• Is proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
• Is passionate and exceptional when it comes to the design of information
• Understands when it's appropriate to follow design patterns, when stretching a pattern is required, or when a pattern should be broken altogether.
• Experience designing and developing in Agile environments
• Takes schedules, and deadlines seriously
• Has demonstrated project, people and relationship management skills
• Experience designing for multiple channels, devices and resolutions
• Experience with faceted search, media-rich offerings, and eCommerce
• Experience with image licensing (rights managed and/or royalty free) a plus
• Has 'depth' of understanding in art direction and information design with 'breadth' in interaction design, web technologies, and information architecture
• Must have a portfolio to prove it
