About the Position
Corbis is evolving its business and its products. As such, we’re redesigning our teams and need additional highly curious and driven designers with 3 or more years of relevant product design experience. This position will help drive, define and refine the user experiences of our products. You will uncover and translate user needs, business requirements and abstract concepts into detailed design specifications for development and implementation.
Responsibilities include:
• Helping to define user experience strategies for each product/project
• Participating in the development of product design research studies, including unearthing user needs and business requirements
• Articulating user scenarios and use cases; advocating for the user through design
• Illustrating user journey maps, storyboards, infographics, sitemaps, wireframes and/or whatever means is most effective to document a design system and intention
• Producing prototypes (both low-fidelity paper and interactive) for proof of concepts, usability studies, and design vetting
• Establishing and leveraging interaction patterns and visual design structures that work across the Corbis portfolio
• Conceiving of and delineating interaction animations/transitions
• Annotating design systems; analyzing and iterating on live design solutions
• Ensuring ID best practices are known, and applied.
• Maintaining subject matter expertise and professional development through active participation in global and/or local Interaction Design community groups
• Presenting to and communicating with peers, customers, stakeholders, executives
Qualifications:
• Must have at least 3 years of professional experience of hands-on interaction design work
• Is passionate, thorough, articulate and demonstrates problem-solving skills
• Is forward thinking and flexible; Comfortable dealing with the ambiguity of an organization in the midst of change
• Works successfully with both minimal supervision and hands-on collaborative leadership
• Must be comfortable switching between projects and juggling multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Understands graphic design principles
• Is proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Understands HTML CSS, and has encountered jQuery.
• Has experience with Omniture and Axure (as well as other prototyping tools)
• Is tapped into the changing landscape of SEO best practices
• Has experience designing for multiple channels, devices and resolutions
• Has experience with faceted search, taxonomy development, eCommerce flows
• An understanding of the strengths and limitations of Flash, After Effects, QuickTime, Final Cut Pro a plus
• Has 'depth' of understanding in interaction design and information architecture with 'breadth' in web technologies, psychology and visual design.
• Understands when it's appropriate to follow design patterns, when stretching a pattern is required, or when a pattern should be broken altogether.
• Has experience designing and developing with Agile methodologies and for responsive and mobile first products
• Takes schedules, and deadlines seriously
• Is familiar with Front-end coding in HTML and CSS
• Is familiar with Open Source CMS systems such as Drupal
• Has demonstrated project, people and relationship management skills
• Is always looking to learn and grow.
• Has a portfolio to prove it.
