Description
The Director, Business Development carries direct operational and revenue responsibility for managing a compact sales team in addition to his / her own key-account management and revenue target. Works closely with EVP of Global Sales to determine account assignments and revenue targets in North America.
Responsible for generating new brand and creative agency revenues, as well as overseeing revenue growth from the accounts assigned to their entire team. Mentors Senior Account Managers (SAMs), Account Managers (AMs) and/or Business Development Managers (BDMs) in every aspect of their roles. Holds all the responsibilities of a Business Development Manager while also leading their business development team in North America.
Prospect, develop, expand and manage key and assigned accounts to maximize revenues and increase overall business opportunities. An external sales role with client interface, primarily at senior executive and management levels, focusing on the strategic nature of the relationship. The Director, Business Development identifies and evaluates clients’ needs for complete visual solutions. Strives to establish Corbis as the preferred provider of visual content, as well as assignment and rights services. The Director, Business Development calls on accounts, provides product information and/or presents demonstrations of how the product/service will meet the client’s needs.
Essential Job Function
• Manage strategic sales strategy, including oversight of custom proposal process
• Demonstrate success in a results-driven sales environment, with a track record of achieving and exceeding demanding sales targets in Sports/Entertainment fields
• Actively pursue new business and evangelize Corbis ONE sales approach
• Excellent presentation, listening and consultation skills
• A consultative sales approach, combined with measurable success with new business generation
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented and strong time management skills required
• Aid in the development of sales strategies, category and client targets in North America
• Establish strong client relationships and act as CI liaison with all counterparts in the US offices
• Cross sell and up-sell related CI and CE services to agency and client partners
Skills, Education and Experience
• 10 years extensive experience in sales, including all phases of sales development cycle in Sports/Entertainment
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Robust rolodex of client relationships
• Exceptional communication skills required
• Ability to work well under pressure and in fast paced environments
• Flexible and proactive self-starter
