Westside entertainment law firm seeks experienced full charge bookkeeper.
Opening for a full charge bookkeeper with 5+ years experience either at an agency, management company or entertainment law firm -- where you have worked with clients who get paid on a percentage commission. Need to be familiar with agencies and management companies. In your cover note, please discuss your experience working with clients who get paid on a percentage basis.
The successful candidate will compile financial results; oversee cash application management and bank relations, client billing, systems development and maintenance, processing of payroll, payables and receivables; prepare the Firm's business and property tax reports; be responsible for maintaining of the general ledger and partnership accounts, management reporting and analysis;
Responsibilities:
- A/P, A/R and PR operations and introduce efficiencies as needed to achieve deadlines
- Monitor daily cash receipts and wires; issue cash reports
- Verify cash deposits
- Prepare client/matter aging reports to partners
- Prepare General Ledger
- Upload semi-monthly payroll journal entry and reconcile payroll posting
- Maintain reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts
- Liaison with Administrator regarding accounting issues
- Provide variance analysis and special reporting to Administrator,
- Monitor compliance filings in all areas of AP and Payroll
- Schedule and prepare all tax requests, including business license, personal property, sales & use taxes, etc.
- Timely review of maintenance of trust account records
- Reconciliation of all firm bank accounts; act as liaison with bank on account issues
- Special projects as needed in relation to outstanding monies due
- Various research and analytical projects as needed
- Required Skills: Expert QuickBooks; Minimum of five to ten years experience in a fast-paced accounting department; at least two years specific to management of accounts payable/billing in an agency, management company or entertainment law firm environment.
- Minimum of two years experience overseeing general ledger, monthly and year-end GL close.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks, and to proactively meet and/or exceed firm objectives within time constraints
- Ability to research on-line and systems issues with limited guidance; ability to work through issues on own
