Search for Art Director, Music and Events jobs in New York-NY
One of the biggest names in music and entertainment seeks an Art Director to oversee the conceptualization, visual design, animation, and final execution of multiple high-visibility projects produced by the company. This includes tent-pole live concerts, cutting-edge sales activations, unique artist experiences, logo and brand design, and lots more.
Nitty Gritty
Our client owns much of the music and entertainment landscape these days. They put on major festivals with major interactive components, they initiate and/or manage many other appearances and events, they create apps and other products with millions of users, and they also release and promote scads of concerts, interviews, awards shows, sales activations, and promotions-they even do the merch.
Now they need a strong, creative, and very hands-on art director who can wrap his or her head around the company's main brand and bring a fresh look and feel to all of its efforts. If you've ever packaged a show, going from concept to style boards to sketching out the bumpers and billboards, then you know exactly the sort of things that this job entails (and you've also well-positioned to take the reins here). That said, if you haven't yet taken on such a job, it's not a deal-breaker. You just need to be able to convince us that you can step up to the plate and get it done.
You'll own the events and programs you work on. Although you'll have some assistance with banging out the details, via a junior talent you'll also be mentoring, this is not a job for anyone who can't or won't execute ideas for him- or herself when that's what's called for. In return, you'll be creating amazing experiences with a worldwide footprint.
Hired Gun Profile
You may very well already have an enviable job title and an impressive portfolio, perhaps from the works you've done at a world-class agency (BBDO, let's say) or similarly positioned media company, like MTV. But now maybe you've found yourself increasingly let down by the many pitches that don't go anywhere, or that do manage to get released into the wild but then disappear without a trace. Maybe the world isn't quite ready to appreciate a car commercial as genuinely cool and stylish as the one you did.
That's not this job. Here, you'll be directing work that will have a direct and measurable effect on how millions of people experience the music they love, and you'll be helping shape pop culture through your visual-branding decisions. Experience working with live events, stage design, and the branding of advertiser activations will be very handy to getting picked for this role.
To do this job well, you should show us that in addition to great style, you're also a talented generalist, ideally with experience with typography; illustration; and Cinema 4D, Maya, or similar software. If you can cover anything from a front-page ad to sizzle reels to a four-day festival, then you just might be right for this gig.
Inside Skinny
If you've ever found yourself wishing that you were working your magic in the services of something fun that will make people genuinely happy, then get your portfolio in front of us.
