Looking for a dedicated attorney to provide legal support on a heavy volume of development, production, acquisition and day-to-day administrative matters relating to cable and broadcast non-scripted television.
This is a full-time position working out of our West L.A. office. Company offers excellent benefits and a fun, creative work environment.
- Negotiating, drafting and closing a heavy volume of development and production agreements, which include agreements for talent and all legal matters during the course of production as well as exploitation of ancillary rights
- Ability to review, revise, negotiate and draft various network television agreements
- Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of documents and agreements including participant agreements, consulting agreements, game play rules/compliance, vendor agreements, location agreements, format licenses, production services agreements, talent agreements, product integration agreements and footage/music clearance agreements
- Areas of responsibility also include matters evaluating acquisitions, intellectual property, rights/chain of title issues as well as general corporate issues including oversight of general legal and business practices
- Advise and coordinate with executives and other personnel to identify and resolve business and legal issues, contract interpretation, and provide ongoing counsel, advice and support
- Handling day-to-day administrative matters, as needed, including employment practices.
- Ensuring Company's compliance with network policies, third-party agreements and applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years' experience, preferably with a broadcast or cable network, diversified entertainment company, studio, or law firm
- J.D. and member in good standing of the CA. state bar
- Extensive exposure to and knowledgeable of broadcast and cable non-scripted television industry production, unions, compliance, licensing, and other intellectual property matters
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude, good sense of humor and an outstanding, proactive client service mentality
- Ability to work within the general entertainment industry including but not limited to unions, talent, agents, and broadcast networks
- Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team to problem solve and negotiate deals
- Outstanding interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a range of personalities and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization and with outside business partners
- Exceptional drafting, analytical skills and attention to detail
- Capacity to handle a heavy workload, while maintaining a strong work-ethic and high level of self-motivation
