An entertainment company in Los Angeles is actively seeking a Vice President for the Business & Legal Affairs department. The incumbent will provide legal services to departments and productions - advising executives on legal matters in connection to their business or creative activities.
Position Details:
• Conduct negotiations in support of drafting agreements. Draft and supervise highly complex agreements for development,
production and licensing of programming along with international syndication, rights and clearances, engagements and
descriptions of services to be rendered, including talent deals, sponsorship agreements and co-productions.
• Perform day-to-day episodic legal work; provide on-and-off set advice.
• Advise client groups on strategic and complex business and risk management matters.
• Negotiate and manage high profile and highly complex deals and contracts. Structure and direct the administration of deals.
• Analyze and advise about the ramifications and implications of deal features.
• Review and approve production, marketing and publicity materials related to deals.
• Supervise and manage legal team.
• Handle other general business and legal affairs projects, as assigned.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 10-12 years' experience as an attorney, with 3-4 years of entertainment industry experience with an emphasis on
legal and cable network production required.
• Extensive knowledge of entertainment law and entertainment transactions.
• A broad understanding of intellectual property, content production, acquisition, and distribution.
• Active member of the California Bar
• Graduate of a top 20 law school.
