Job Purpose: Responsible for managing all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff and functions including policies, system of internal accounting controls, statistical analysis, accruals and expense reporting.
Duties:
• Leads, retains & motivates A/P and A/R staff to ensure optimum utilization of the department and provide the highest levels of service.
• Implements new process to improve overall effectiveness and accuracy of the A/P and A/R function.
• Reviews and manages department work flow, and assists with vendor and employee inquiries to ensure a timely resolution.
• Manages the timely and accurate completion of invoice processing and verification, expense coding, and drafting of checks according to policies and procedures of department.
• Makes recommendations to improve quality of invoicing and collection procedures.
• Establishes controls for financial systems & develops procedures to improve existing systems.
• Puts processes in place to measure results on a monthly basis and meets regularly with staff to achieve or exceed goals.
• Reviews and monitors A/P aging reports, reconciliations, journal entries, and GL accrual accounts for accuracy.
• Develops and distributes regular reporting of accounts payable function and recommends cost reduction and streamlining opportunities.
• Promotes a team environment and provides work direction and guidance including coaching, professional development and training.
• Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting /Finance.
• Two (2) years managing staff experience.
• Three (3) years progressive A/P and or A/R experience.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting and how the payable function interacts with purchasing and other areas.
• Strong managerial skills and proven ability to oversee the team that performs most of the transactional responsibilities.
• Very good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate both internally and externally.
• Excellent multi tasking and critical thinking skills; ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to train, motivate and develop employees.
• Well developed organizational, analytical and project management skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; specifically advanced features of Excel.
