SUMMARY
This position reports to the CEO and V.P. of Development. The public relations department is focused on providing strong PR campaigns. This position requires a highly motivated and detailed oriented publicist for our management and label departments. The candidate must have the ability to keep up with a bust, fast-paced office, and remain composed in high-pressure situations. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of music industry experience and possess the creative mindset to come up with novel and imaginative campaigns for artists. Candidates must be able to function well in a ''start-up'' environment and require no supervision.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Primary focus is to pitch, follow-up and secure reviews, mentions, features, interviews, giveaways, and placement with major online media as well as blogs on a consistent basis.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee, maintain, and develop strong relationships with our current online media list as well as make new contacts.
2. Research and write press releases as well as effective pitches.
3. Respond to press inquires.
4. Arrange and facilitate interviews.
5. Brainstorm, research, and pitch specialty press.
6. Organize in-house inventory and order product.
7. Send multiple press samples daily.
8. Assist with social media outreach (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).
9. Compile and organize weekly press coverage emails.
10. Select press-ready photos from shoots.
11. Research projects as assigned.
12. Provide support to the sales and marketing departments.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
1. 1-3 years of full-time record label and/or artist management firm publicity related experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in communications, or public relations is preferred.
3. High proficiency in Cision and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
4. Knowledge of entertainment industry players highly preferred.
5. Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
