Industry leading unscripted production company seeking a seasoned Senior Attorney to join its busy Business & Legal Affairs department. Reporting to the EVP of Business & Legal Affairs, this position will handle the development and production of scripted and unscripted television projects, as well as ensuring the company's compliance with all state and federal employment laws.
Responsibilities -
• Structure, negotiate and draft complex deals and agreements involving the development and production of scripted and unscripted programs;
• Draft, review and negotiate employment and consulting agreements;
• Advise executives and client groups on strategic and complex business structures, risk matters, labor/guild issues and the use of the company's intellectual property; and
• Handle day-to-day legal production matters.
Requirements -
• JD degree and active member of California Bar;
• 6+ years of relevant television/cable network legal distribution experience (including some significant law firm experience). Must have had leadership role in large scale, comprehensive deals;
• Must be well versed in federal and state labor and employment laws with in-depth knowledge concerning union and non-union labor issues;
• Excellent drafting and organizational skills and be polished and poised in communicating and presenting with and to executives, internal clients and the outside entertainment community;
• Extensive knowledge of entertainment law, entertainment transactions (in cable television) and strong pre-existing relationships with cable network Business & Legal Affairs departments;
• Extensive experience as production counsel experience; and
• Familiarity with network commissioning and co-production agreements.
