Top Beverly Hills Entertainment Law Firm seeks an experienced scripted television development and production attorney to start as soon as possible. Applicants MUST have a minimum of three years' (post law school) and up to ten years' recent experience actively managing scripted television development and production projects, pilots, and series at a major or mini-major studio, television network or cable channel, production company and/or entertainment law firm which represents any of the foregoing. This is a position with a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow within a booming law practice at the cutting edge of the small-screen content business.
Candidates must be able to manage multiple development projects and television productions simultaneously in both business and legal affairs capacities. Duties will include:
• Negotiate and draft pilot script writer-producer, non-writing producer, pilot director and underlying rights option/purchase deals
• Negotiate and draft test option and other series regular actor deals for pilot and series programming
• Manage series and digital media (e.g., Netflix) productions including liaising and coordinating daily with line producers and other production personnel
• Draft all forms for series production agreements including for above- and below-the-line, crew deal memos, vendor agreements, releases, location agreements, etc.
• Assist clients in resolving clearance (including scripts and audiovisual cuts), credit, and guild (SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA) related issues.
• Interface with partners and clients to keep them apprised of the status of open negotiations in a concise, topline manner.
Requirements:
• J.D. degree from a top law school
• Active Member of the California State Bar
• Minimum three years' experience as set forth above.
• Candidates MUST have active production legal experience in television and series programming. Self-starters without the need for much oversight or management will be given priority.
• Seeking candidates with capabilities in multi-tasking, organization, entrepreneurship, forward-thinking, pro-action and finesse.
This is a full-time position, with the salary to be based upon experience.
