In-house PR team seeks a smart, driven, quick, and dedicated assistant to help with day to day tasks. This job is perfect for someone looking to learn the ropes of entertainment publicity. You would be liaising with press, talent, studios, networks, and management teams, assisting with coordinating interviews, travel, scheduling, red carpet events, and more. The candidate must be someone with a SOLID work ethic and desire to learn the in's and out's of both PR and entertainment. Candidate must have some past PR, journalism, or entertainment experience; he/she should be dedicated to a job well-done, and a team player. This job would require long and (at times) odd working hours so I must emphasize that this really isn't just a ''job.'' If PR isn't a career path for you, this is definitely not the job for you. This would be a foot-in-the-door opportunity for someone looking to ''break into the business''--someone who's resourceful and excited to jump in and make things happen. Those who have done best in the past have been hungry, sharp, and eager to learn; they take criticism well, THRIVE in fast-paced work environments, and are interested in what is in the best interest of the team and not just themselves. You succeed when the team succeeds; it's that simple. The candidate must have great communication skills both written and spoken and have a pleasant/positive demeanor on the phone and in-person.
Also, above all, the candidate must be positive, have a sense of humor, and enjoy the work they'll be doing. Moody, catty, overly-sensitive, or generally difficult people need not apply.
Daily tasks include:
Connecting calls and interviews
Coordinate interviews, media outreach
Oversee celebrity schedules and interviews
Cover red carpet events
Coordinating photo shoots
Managing the dept schedule
Scheduling travel
Drafting press releases
Sending out media alerts
Pitching media
Requirements:
1-2 Years PR experience (internships OK)
Strong computer skills (must be fluent in Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
Must be a Cision wizard with knowledge of Vocus and IMDB.
BS/BA (Communications, PR, English preferable)
Live in LA
Must be friendly, approachable, and pleasant! (This is PUBLIC relations... if you don't like talking to people, it isn't for you)
