Position Summary: Creates set pieces, costumes and props for the propose of stage production by using fabrics, foam and plastic and other artistic materials.
Essential Functions:
Construct and repairs costumes out of fabrics, coroplast and other related materials
Constructs and maintains scenic set pieces and props made out of various foams, plastics and some woodwork material
Installs wire lighting to set pieces and props
Installing and removal of wraps is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and the ability to work with coworkers
Knowledge if proper safety techniques and procedures
Knowledge of maintenance and repair work
Knowledge of different styles of fabric
Knowledge of various type of foam used to build scenic props
Knowledge of different types of plastic used to create costumes, props and sets
General understanding of theater and prop lighting
Working knowledge of animatronics is a plus
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Previous set building and prop design is a plus
