JOB TITLE:Director, Business & Legal Affairs, Reveille
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for handlingday-to-day production legal matters, and the negotiation of business affairsdeals for Reveille, a leading independent television and digital entertainmentproduction company and part of the Shine Group, located in Hollywood. Thechosen candidate will help negotiate and draft a wide variety ofentertainment-related deals and business relationships, including deals toacquire and develop reality and scripted programming, co-production deals,talent agreements, and agreements for the ancillary exploitation ofintellectual property. This individual, reporting to the VP of Business andLegal Affairs, will assist in connection with many business and legal aspectsof Reveille's domestic production and intellectual property exploitationbusinesses and will advise and support senior executives and other personnel onbusiness, legal, litigation and rights-related matters. The environment isdemanding and fast-paced and you will have the opportunity to prove yourself inthis newly created position. The person in this position will be considered anintegral and valuable member of the Reveille team and have the goal ofincreasing efficiency within the business/legal affairs department andinteracting with other departments and those outside the company includingtelevision network representatives, agents and outside counsel. Qualifiedcandidates must possess enthusiasm, a sense of humor, flexibility, creativityand the willingness to assume challenges and increased responsibility.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiate and draft talent agreements, produceragreements, rights agreements, and other agreements in connection with thedevelopment and production of reality and scripted television programming
- Handle above and below the line guild issues
- Assist with corporate and production insurancematters
- Review programs (including for clearancepurposes) and production processes for
selected programming to ensure that company is notexposed to legal risks
- Work with outside counsel handling productionlegal, litigation, copyright and trademark,
music, and rights and clearance matters
- Handle other general business and legal affairsmatters as needed
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- JD required, preferably from top-tier law school
- Minimum two years of business and legal affairsexperience at a network, studio, or television production company and/or amajor law firm, specifically including experience with U.S. reality/unscriptedtelevision productions
- Excellent references and academic credentials
- Excellent written and verbal communicationskills
- Superior negotiation and legal drafting skillsand high level of attention to detail
- Established relationships within theentertainment industry business affairs and legal communities are a plus
- Ability to prioritize and manage time, withexceptional organizational skills and a facility with handling a constantstream of high-priority projects
- Superior analytical skills
- Ability to independently exercise soundjudgment, make sound decisions, and perform under minimal supervision on adaily basis
- Strong initiative to take on tasks and set ownpriorities and deadlines and put forth the maximum effort
- Ability to excel under pressure in a demanding,fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
- Ability to build effective working relationshipswithin and outside the company
