Boutique entertainment transactional law firm is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated production and licensing attorney to join its digital, TV, music and technology group. Attorney will draft and negotiate development, production and licensing related agreements on behalf of firm's clients, along with handling the legal aspects of content acquisition and distribution via digital, wireless and emerging media. Position also involves up to 3 days a week focused on matters for one of our client's music licensing division, with some of time anticipated to be spent on site at client. Specific experience handling music licensing with record and publishing labels is desirable. Please send a copy of your cover letter, a detailed resume and your references.
Required Competencies/Skills:
• Must have general computer skills, a working knowledge of Mac OS X, Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Access and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
• Excellent academic credentials and references
• Solid drafting and negotiation skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Possess a strong work ethic
• Effectively juggle competing priorities
• Strong organization skills and high attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Self-starter, self-motivated and takes responsibility/ownership of tasks
• Thinks proactively, strategically and analytically
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
• Excellent judgement
• Ability to interact effectively with other attorneys and staff, in-house client groups, opposing counsel and outside production personnel
• Ability to learn quickly and effectively
• Positive and helpful attitude
Special Requirements/Preferences:
• Ideally two (2) years of experience as a licensed practicing attorney (J.D.) in an entertainment law firm or business/legal affairs position at a major digital or TV studio, network or distribution company, or music company with heavy emphasis on drafting. Basic corporate experience a plus.
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:
• Current member of California State Bar, with no record of discipline or malpractice claims.
• Graduate of an ABA accredited law school.
