Established worldwide film sales company is looking for a ''production executive'' who is able to acquire, support and shepherd projects from script to distribution. The job will require extensive research and knowledge of established and up-and-coming filmmakers and focus on early stage projects.
The ideal candidate will have a mixture of producing, financing and development experience and be comfortable giving script feedback as well as offering ideas on financial structuring and possible distribution. This job will report to the head of acquisitions and the company President.
The job will require travel to film festivals and markets. Location can be either in NYC or LA.
DUTIES:
research new projects (domestic and international)
find filmmakers whose work fits thematically with company's slate
develop relationships with producers working with talent targeted by Visit
manage submissions and track projects that could potentially be of interest
assess submissions and analyze their financing strategies and project's relevance in the current market
create a database of talent and projects
attend industry events focused on emerging talent
develop a simple system of contracting projects and oversee necessary paperwork and legal aspect of project development
Support for other acquisitions projects as dictated by head of acquisitions and other company executives
acquire 4-8 projects annually
SKILLS:
in-depth knowledge of international film markets
understanding of scriptwriting and story structure with experience in script development
wide network of contacts in the industry
a passion for film and networking
excellent communication skills
good analytical and organizational skills
good interpersonal and social skills
understanding of film budgets and financing
