Full-time NYC Online Assistant Editor - Avid
This is a full-time union, daytime position working closely with Post Production Supervisor for an episodic non-scripted long running network cable show.
You must have at least 2 years of experience as an assistant editor, using Avid. Online prep experience of at least one year is a must.
This will initially be a 30 day trial period.
I am looking for someone that is comfortable with tape and tapeless workflows, from soup to nuts; dealing with anything from DBETA and HDV decks to random 3rd party formats that require unique solutions to get workable files; as well as a variety of current tapeless formats.
Responsibilities Include:
Prepping audio and video for finishing process (for episodic long forms and web/social media short forms)
1. Making sure the locked sequence is consistent with show and network format specifications
2. Cleaning up and prepping audio: includes conforming track assignments, NATs pass.
3. Conforming Video: includes confirming format and frame-rate for each type of media was adhered to throughout editorial and online prep.
4. Conforming Graphics: includes adhering to our style guide.
Secondary to this main task is fielding day-to-day requests from the Post Production Supervisor, Supervising Post Producers, Post Producers and Editors.
Such requests might include:
1) Cutting Cold Opens and Recaps
2) Locating Broll or cheats
3) Organizing Voice Over as it comes in
4) Organizing Broll by city and type
5) Archive Organization of final Episode materials/ online/ mix
6) Addressing post-PL notes in the conform process
7) Working directly with graphics artist, mixer and online colorist
8) And any number of other requests that come up, big and small.
