Los Angles Entertainment Company is seeking a Legal and Business Affairs executive. This position will act as counsel for company's productions and general corporate projects. This includes negotiating and papering of documentation, talent agreements, IPA & sales agency agreements, music agreements, insurance applications, licensing third party materials, dealing with any guild issues, and all other legal issues for corporate, finance, development, production and distribution.
The successful candidate will have a law degree from an accredited law school, have strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, and be a highly motivated self-starter with 5 to 7 years of experience, primarily in producer-side legal affairs for development and production with deal-making experience preferred. Familiarity with co-financing and co-production agreements is necessary.
Requirements:
• JD degree from an ABA accredited university, and membership in good standing to the California Bar.
• Supervise external legal counsel on litigation issues.
• Draft, negotiate and review development and production, co-production and acquisition agreements; including IPA's, sale agency agreements, and collection account management agreements.
• Must be able to function independently; work proactively as well as collaboratively and cross-functionally, and have excellent client interface skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in an intense, fast-paced environment required.
• Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills; exceptional business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels and functions of the Company.
• Ability to find appropriate balance between legal risks and the need of the business.
• Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle many matters at once and quickly shift from one situation or task to another.
• Ability to work under pressure with a sense of humor.
Salary to commensurate with experience.
