We are a full-service multicultural marketing division of a leading entertainment-marketing firm that has been in business for over 40 years. The division offers a wide range of services, including targeted publicity, promotions, grassroots, creative, and digital/social media. As a multicultural marketing partner for several major motion picture studios and television networks, the division primarily specializes in marketing entertainment properties to Hispanic and African-American audiences across the country via targeted publicity, grassroots, social media, and promotional efforts utilizing TV, radio, print, and online outlets.
We are seeking to hire a Jr. Publicist who will provide direct support to the Vice President of the Urban Division, the Division director, and finite support to the executive and account teams to execute campaigns that resonate within the targeted communities. This position will be responsible for interfacing with various agency departments to manage and ensure completion of campaign directives on all assigned accounts, and will be responsible for a level of client communication, campaign development, financing, and final reporting.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pitches and procures African-American national and local press coverage, including television, radio, print, and online media outlets in the top African-American DMAs.
Pitches and procures media and grassroots promotions in select African-American DMAs.
Develops client-related communications and materials, including pitch emails, status reports, generic interview questions, screening reports with reactions, press event recaps (i.e., junkets, press days, PA Tours, stunts premieres, etc.)
Pitches and coordinates press for dedicated editorial coverage, promotional events, junkets, and the like.
Tracks publicity and promotions coverage for breaks, links, air checks, media values, impressions, etc. for inclusion in daily, weekly, and final reports.
Attends daily and weekly departmental meetings prepared to provide detailed status on all assigned projects.
Participates in brainstorms and contributes fresh, creative, and executable ideas.
Manages workload efficiently to ensure client expectations, directives, and deadlines are met.
Establishes, maintains and expands partnerships with media outlets, community organizations, tastemakers, and celebrities.
Manages external representatives and vendors needed for client service and ensures quality, cost-effective service, within established budget and time frame.
Requirements:
• BA or BS degree
• Understanding of media and interest in developing publicity skills
• Outstanding writing and organizational skills, and ability to keep focused when performing a variety of projects simultaneously
• Extremely detail-oriented, while working in high-paced environment
• Punctuality and reliability; accessible during work and after hours via phone/email.
• Able to commit to non-traditional work hours, as some projects will require evening/weekend activities both in the office and off- site.
• Strong knowledge of Keynote/Powerpoint a plus
Salary commensurate with experience.
