POSITION PURPOSE:
Manage all aspects of the New York and Hollywood Commercials/Co-Ed Contracts Department; including signing signatories, monitoring and enforcing contracts through the claims process, and directing workflow between support staff, business representatives, field services, Membership, Legal, P&H, Organizing, Research, casting directors, talent agents, attorneys, producers, and payroll houses. Outreach to industry for the purpose of organizing more work under the contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for interpretation and enforcement of Commercials and Co-Ed Contracts. Must be able to articulate complex issues and mediate disputes with performers, agents and advertiser/ad agency representatives, including attorneys and business affairs individuals.
- Prepare for and participate in Commercials and Co-Ed Contracts negotiations, including responsibility for Wages & Working Conditions Committee meetings and preparation of proposals. Attend negotiations. Participate in drafting Commercials and Co-Ed Contracts.
- Mediate complex disputes involving claims for breach of contract with ad agencies and performers. Evaluate whether dispute must be resolved through arbitration and, if so, assist counsel in preparation for arbitration, including testifying.
- Responsible for preparation, participation and staff support of various SAG-AFTRA Commercials committees, Co-Ed Contract Standing Committee meetings, National Board Plenary and New Member Orientation.
- Participate in Industry-Union Standing Committee and Joint Commercial Review Committee meetings to address disputes & other matters arising during contract term.
- Supervise, manage, develop and assess work performance of all departmental staff. Responsible for overall activities, tasks and related responsibilities of department.
- Outreach to producers in order to organize work for members under the Commercials and Co-Ed Contracts and to build positive relationships within the industry.
- Provide interpretation and rulings for Commercials and Co-Ed/Educational Contracts to Local Offices. Represent the department at local staff meetings.
- Create and provide training for members, casting directors, agents, signatories, assistant directors, and payroll houses.
- Manage the Commercials function in support and at the direction of the National Director of Commercials and Co-Ed Contracts.

- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
- Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
- Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the interpretation and administration of complex contractual agreements.
- Minimum two years of management level experience preferably at a labor union, ad agency or similar industry-related organization/business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. This is particularly essential in order to advocate persuasively with diverse constituencies and for the drafting of complex documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills required to effectively manage and develop team and individual contributors.
- Superior analytical ability required to facilitate, process and negotiate broad range of issues.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully mediate disputes and facilitate resolution within established guidelines.
- Consistent professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to perform well within a broad range of highly pressured situations. Must be discrete and diplomatic at all times.
