Search for Director of Social Media jobs in Los Angeles-CA
We are a rapidly-growing, 5-year old fun, quirky and do-good media/tech company looking for a Director of Social Media to attract and interact with existing and targeted virtual communities in the 15-35 year-old range. We host a variety of widely-attended and press-covered online and offline projects each year that include: fundraisers, digital shorts, animated projects, live-stream events, and gamification. We also feature an annual and seasonal merchandise platform. Our social media platform audiences exceed 3MM.
Start date:
Flexible, though ideally looking to commence mid-to-late October.
Qualifications:
- Sense of humor. Having a sense of humor in line with our brand is vital. Whimsical, absurdist, dry. In the vein of Monty Python, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Concords, etc. If you don't know these shows or don't find them funny, please don't apply.
- Self-sufficiency. Although you will have a Manager occasionally working with you on day-to-day responsibilities, your social media team will essentially be a team of 1. Accordingly, the job and structure of our company requires significant self-discipline and a strong sense of initiative. You will be working remotely, and many times expected to solely come up with your own ideas and subsequently implement them. This is a great opportunity for you to seed, create and launch your own vision, but it also requires a ton of initiative, a deep well of creativity, and strong personal organization.
- Connection to the Market. Our primary audience is 15-23 (with some reach into the 30's). You must have a solid understanding of the inclinations of this market.
- Flexibility. Our campaigns are periodic and require blitz work and then rest. This requires some weekend work as well as odd hours.
- Adaptability. Our objectives can sometimes change overnight, requiring team-wide modifications to implement the new direction. If you are not someone who can quickly and frequently switch gears, this is not the job for you.
- Kindness. We are looking for an applicant that has a big heart that can appreciate, celebrate and help foster the ''good'' our Company does.
- Social Media Platform Experience. You should be a pro at all social media platforms including FB, Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, Snapchat, and Vine. This includes account management, page design, etc. as well as a native understanding of the differences between the platforms.
- Design Skills. We are ideally looking for someone with at least minimal graphic design skills given that many of our posts utilize graphics.
- Multiple Voices. Each of our platforms has a distinct and different voice. You must have the ability and ideally experience in writing in different voices.
- Confidentiality. We are a Company that is doing fun, weird and kind things on a global level - but we all speak behind the brand. Much of your work will be confidential and you will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. If you're the type of individual that needs to post to your own community about your specific daily work accomplishments, this isn't the right job for you.
- Positive Attitude. We are a company that believes (and continually proves) that the impossible is possible. We expect to hear before any ''it can't be done,'' to hear ''There's definitely some way to do this. Let me figure it out.''
- Work ethic. There is tremendous room for creativity in this position, but there is also a fair amount of housekeeping, so applicants must be able to carry out the daily maintenance work as well as they do the creative masterminding.
- Passion. We're looking to hire someone with a point of view and their own unique interests and passions to enrich and broaden our creative output.
Job requirements:
- All of the above.
- Daily management of all of our social media platforms (FB, Twitter, Tumblr, Vine, etc.)
- Proven work experience in social media or related field
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Minimal graphic design skills
- Web design (ideal but not essential)
- Create and post daily content
- Engage and stimulate the audiences on a daily basis
- Provide founders with frequent content suggestions and viral promotion strategy
- Analyze appropriate social media data/metrics to provide course direction changes
- Knowledge of online marketing strategies
