Successful non -fiction television production company seeks a ''hands on'' Controller who is well versed in both corporate and production accounting. A strong candidate will be able to establish a streamlined financial reporting system. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Maintaining the corporate books in QuickBooks including, executive payroll, a/p, bank recs, etc.
• Tracking owners' spending activity, allowances and disbursements
• Setting up new companies for productions
• Communicating with and reporting to tax and outside public accountants
• Providing oversight and support to the production accountant
• Managing and serving as the administrator for the company Amex and banking accounts
• Establishing a system of controls over accounting transactions
• Daily monitoring of cash balances and the cash flow
• Invoicing networks in accordance to established production milestones.
• Assisting with the creation and tracking of the corporate budget and forecasts after monthly closings
• Generate and track bill back invoices to various productions
• Work with EIC in establishing bill back breakeven thresholds, reviewing production cost reports and monitoring and communicating budget variances with networks
• Track and reconcile balance sheet accounts including intercompany due to/from accounts and
equipment
• Preparing quarterly sales tax returns and 1099's
• Other duties and special projects as assigned by Executive in Charge and Executive Producers
Qualifications/Experience
Candidates should have:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 7+ years of progressively responsible experience, ideally for a Film, TV or Arts related company.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
• Excellent knowledge of QuickBooks
• Experience with production accounting software preferred
