Established Production Company Seeks Controller. Duties include:
• Oversee accounting for completed film and commercial productions.
• Track production job costs on projects 'in production'.
• Manage and supervise the accounting department. (Staff of 1-2)
• Manage and improve existing accounting systems, policies and procedures.
• Manage day-to-day accounting and cash flow (including payroll processing through leased payroll company, accounts receivable
and collections, and accounts payable distributions).
• Manage and master accounting software and chart of accounts. (LAjit)
• Prepare financial management reports. (Accrual basis and cash basis.)
• Manage annual audit and tax return preparation in conjunction with CPA.
• Implement and improve forecasting tools to measure the business.
• Handle basic Human Resource tasks such as maintaining employee files, generating offer letters, researching benefit questions,
processing 401K activities, etc.
• Manage outside relationships with independent accountants, tax and legal advisors, and bankers.
• Oversee risk management, including adequacy of insurance coverage.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office.
• Production accounting system experience. LAjit and CAPS preferred.
• Successful experience as a production company Controller (or Assistant Controller in a large production environment).
• Public accounting experience a plus.
