A strong knowledge of the NYC theatre scene and actors is essential. We are looking for candidates who are coming from a casting office, but will also consider related agency/management experience. This is a full-time position (not freelance)--a rarity in the NYC casting world. This is a small office where you are learning about every aspect of casting. Our projects include theatre, with some film, television, and internet so a strong knowledge of the NYC theatre scene, and actors, is essential as well as plays, musicals, directors, and theatres. A passion for the entertainment industry is a MUST.
Responsibilities include setting up appointments with agents and managers, checking actor availabilities, generating actor lists, keeping all lists up-to-date, assisting during casting sessions, and interacting with producers, directors, artistic directors, agents, etc by both phone and email. Must have excellent phone manner. There is a large amount of computer work (MS Office, Breakdowns Express, Google apps, Dropbox, Acrobat, online research, all forms of social media). Must be comfortable with a PC.
The person we are looking for is proactive, smart, well-organized, articulate, responsible, communicative, and creative. Must excel at multi-tasking, have an upbeat attitude, work well in a collaborative environment and be able to keep his/her sense of humor in stressful situations. We want someone who is a team-player, who can keep a calm head in the midst of chaos. Someone who is dedicated, energetic, hard-working, detail-oriented, and flexible, who thinks on his/her feet.
