Position Location: Zip 10023
The Audition Technician is responsible for scheduling on-camera auditions, setting up production equipment, conducting audition sessions, breaking down production equipment, tracking numbers and promoting the on-camera audition service for union performers.
Primary Duties:
• Sets up video, audio and lighting equipment and conducts actor on-camera audition sessions
• Configures and resets classroom per audition sessions and everyday use
• Coordinates with Actors Center Director and Actors Center Administrator to meet classroom set-up requirements
• Ensures quality and flow of audition sessions, including ensuring video, audio and lighting equipment is running properly and meets audition requirements
• Assists actors with transferring data to computers for editing, when needed
• Assists actors with basic editing, and submitting or transporting video file, when needed
• Conducts orientation sessions and prepares orientation paperwork for actors using the service
• Tracks service usage numbers, following up with actors on callbacks and bookings
• Conducts initial equipment troubleshooting and resolution, and reports issues to the Actors Center Director
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
Knowledge/Skills:
• Experience as a Casting Session Runner, Production Technician, Editor highly preferred
• Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, climb ladders, safely lift and carry 50 lbs
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of information
• Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented
• Ability to work in a very high paced environment
• Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks under deadline
• Excellent interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently and as a member of a team
• Familiarity with video, audio and lighting equipment
• Familiarity with video and audio connector types and formats, and aspect ratio
• Familiarity with video editing software and compression
• Experience with both Apple and Windows platforms
• Must highly dependable and have the ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance
• Must be available and willing to work such overtime or extended hours; if necessary, nights and weekends
