Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Independent Unscripted Television Production Company
Unscripted Television Production Company seeking a CFO with financial knowledge, strong business skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a passion for working collaboratively to capitalize on opportunities that advance the company's mission. In addition to the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, and overseeing all financial-related activities of the company, the CFO is a strategic partner to the President and Vice President and an effective team leader who empowers and motivates senior managers by providing business-savvy insights, guidance and a keen financial perspective to all business-related decision-making. The CFO will actively develop the business through sound business analysis, financial insights, and judgment that are in alignment and support of the company's mission and vision.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in formulating the company's future business strategy
• Lead the development of a financial strategy that is in alignment with the business strategy
• Develop, monitor and direct calculated planning for meeting strategic goals
• Formulate pricing and business model strategies for current, new, and evolving production services
• Develop financial plans and annual budgets
• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure adequate working capital to meet the organization's needs
• Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
• Provide business insights and analysis to support the President and Vice President
• Establish financial milestones
• Construct and monitor control systems
• Mitigate risk through risk analysis & management
• Lead year-end financial strategy and tax planning
• Manage covenants and existing debt and equity financing
• Maintain banking relationships
• Direct and oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the company and projects
• Provide comprehensive reporting of actuals and projections
• Collaborate with the President and Vice President to accomplish business objectives
• Collaborate with project/production managers to meet business and project objectives
• Communicate regular financial updates to President and Vice President
• Present quarterly financial reviews to President and Vice President
• Maintain in-depth relations and good communication with all members of the company's management team
Desired Skills and Experience & Requirements:
• MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
• At least 5-8 years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles
• Demonstrated experience with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization of at least 10-20 staff employees and scaling
10-100 freelancers
• Entrepreneurial approach with a desire to find novel ways to approach business modeling, pricing and charge for service, including new platforms
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong creative problem solving and process improvement skills
• Ability to demonstrate independent thinking and strategic insights
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
• Ability to be proactive and take initiative, get people onboard, and execute an action plan
• Ability to coach, encourage, and inspire others
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• High level of integrity, dependability, and results orientation
• Ability to learn and flexibility to adapt
• Required experience with television production companies (3rd party), creative services agencies, brand consultancy, consumer advertising, or similar field
