JOB TITLE: Broadcast Video Engineer
LOCATION: Santa Monica/Playa Vista, CA
SUMMARY: Our Studio is seeking a Contract Broadcast Video Engineer. The position requires a solid technical IT background to maintain on-air operations of server-based digital video and audio control systems, graphics and non linear editing systems, automation systems and their associated software and hardware infrastructure, as well as maintenance of traditional broadcast equipment.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience providing Engineering and IT support for video and broadcast operations utilizing; control rooms and production studios; newsroom computer systems including a variety of edit applications; video and audio switchers and routers; various graphics devices; camera robotics, fiber transmission systems, archive storage; LAN/WAN systems, or similar systems.
The ideal candidate must have a proven ability in diagnosing complex systems and be able to identify, troubleshoot and remedy critical on-air issues.
Ability to step into operator positions in the Control room (such as Technical Director, Audio, Robotic Camera operator) is a plus
Broadcast Video Engineer is directly responsible for the daily activities in the technical areas in Santa Monica and our planned new facility in Playa Vista, CA (launching in Q4 2015)
Duties include on-air signal distributions, production studios and control rooms, various edit systems.
Other responsibilities include the support and maintenance of all On-Air broadcast servers and related PCs.
In addition, the Broadcast Video Engineer will be called upon to provide solutions for a broad range of problems / tasks.
The ability to troubleshoot problems and adapt to new situations is a must.
The primary goal is to assist in managing the groups engineering systems and broadcast facilities and be actively involved with the staff to ensure excellent technical services and the highest quality output.
Responsibilities
• Maintain all aspects of the On-Air broadcast television environment.
• Maintain Windows / Mac / Linux based network and broadcast video servers.
• Work with our vendor to support, troubleshoot, and maintain the integrity and security of the storage area networks and asset management systems.
• Interface with equipment manufacturers and vendors as needed.
• Communicate effectively with other department personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
