Below the line agency on the Santa Monica promenade is looking to hire a film agent.
This agent will be in charge of booking our cinematographer, production designer, and costume designer clients on independent film projects. Seeing the process through from start to finish: from initial call to client submission and obtaining scripts to setting meetings to booking the job.
We are looking for someone who, when making calls on film projects, establishes a connection with the studio, producer, director, or point of contact in order to obtain scripts and meaningful information on the project that we can use to submit clients. This person should be able to ask the right questions that will help us to narrow in on the specific needs of the project / filmmakers, and then use this information along with the creative materials provided to us to successfully pitch cinematographers, production designers, or costume designers in a way that results in a meeting with the filmmakers.
The ideal person for this job is able turn cold calls into comfortable, ongoing conversations with filmmakers; forge strong relationships with producers and directors in order to track projects and create continuous opportunities for clients to meet and work on projects that will build their careers.
This is an agent position; while knowledge of production is valuable, we will only consider candidates interested in a career in representation.
This is not a starter position; we are looking for someone with existing industry knowledge and connections that will be able to contribute to the team from day 1 - while the company is very collaborative, there will be minimal training in this role; this person is expected to have a great understanding of this line of work prior to starting.
