About the Job:
Are you an aspiring Avid editor who is a self-starter who can solve technical problems independently? If so, we're looking for you.
We are in need of an Avid Assistant Editor. This is a part time position that requires 15-20 hours per week, with the potential to grow into a full-time position.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing, and able to work independently in a challenging technical environment. This position will offer the right individual an opportunity to develop further skills and proficiency in post-production.
Rate:
This is an hourly position and compensation is based on experience. You will begin as a freelance independent contractor with the potential to become a staff employee.
Responsibilities:
• Ingest new material and lay out Avid timeline sequences
• Manage assets and data backups
• Create A-Roll cuts from scripts
• Prep projects for color and audio
• Occasional runner/courier type tasks (mileage will be reimbursed)
• Other Assistant Editor tasks as directed
Requirements:
• Previous Avid Assistant editorial experience and/or 6-12 months experience working in a busy post-production environment
• Technical proficiency in Avid and Macs in general. Must possess ability to research and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise
• Familiarity with compression codecs and transcoding a must
• Knowledge of Avid project setup and bin structure, including file naming conventions
• Working knowledge of post-production audio software and workflows
• Experienced in prepping for color and audio sessions
• Must be able to multi-task and work independently
• Must have own vehicle and insurance
Prefer candidates with the following experience:
• Experience in an office environment and advanced ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Photoshop. Knowledge of Avid 6.0
• After Effects, and motion graphics experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with various HD camera formats and associated transcoding practices
• Eagerness to learn from our Senior Editor, should show initiative to learn new skills as they relate to editing & post-production
• Availability to work nights/weekends if necessary
• BA degree in Communications, Broadcast Media or Film
