JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are a boutique talent-representation entertainment law firm seeking a junior associate with great pride in workmanship and a passion for the entertainment industry. The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years of experience with an entertainment law firm or studio, network or production company in legal/business affairs; however, we are open to meeting talented, well-trained lawyers who may not have these exact entertainment qualifications but are willing to work hard to learn quickly. This is a long term position with ample room to grow and advance at our firm.
Responsibilities would primarily relate to negotiating talent agreements (in film, TV, theatre, and personal endorsement) including, for example: working with the artist's team of representatives to develop and draft deal term sheets, researching supporting arguments to advance our negotiating position, drafting and commenting upon contracts memorializing deal terms, negotiating with business affairs and production counsel and supporting the partners of the firm in communication and business development activities.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current admission to the New York bar (but willing to consider entertainment lawyers currently living in LA who wish to relocate to New York)
- Personable, with the desire and ability to network and develop relationships other entertainment professionals.
- Comfortable handling a varied and high-volume workload (i.e., grace under pressure).
- Excellent drafting skills and painstaking attention to detail.
- Intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic.
- Team player who enjoys working closely with a small group of colleagues.
- Good understanding of the entertainment industry and knowledge of key players.
