JOB SUMMARY: Directly reporting to the Supervising Producer, the Asset Researcher is responsible for the acquisition, management and delivery of daily digital assets and related media for production. This position will also service the needs of the Producing Team during production of daily live television show.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage all video, graphics, and audio content and make editorial decisions about video sources, storage and use
Ensure both graphics operator and video playback operator have assets they need for daily production
Important gatekeeper in both the quality and editorial usage of content that makes it to air
Serve as quality control to ensure delivered assets meet required image, video and audio broadcast standards; determine needed course of action to fix or replace show assets
Track assets through production workflow and ensure they are in show rundown
Digital asset maintenance; archiving, including all scripts, rundowns, video, audio, and graphics assets; help organize the structure of content to maximize digital storage
Capture, catalog, and store digital content for daily production
Increase the accessibility and volume of digital content collections
Manage all content workflows
Run audits and reports on stored media
Ensure the delivery of digital content to multiple production departments
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Extremely detail-oriented; this position will be responsible for keeping track of large amounts of data
Knowledge of graphics, video, and audio codecs a plus
Proven record of meeting deadlines
Deep understanding of television production, post-production, and graphics workflows
Strong creative instincts and direction, as well as a commitment to quality programming
Must be available early mornings and holidays
Education & Experience: BA in television strongly preferred. 2 years experience in digital asset management for daily show or newsroom required; Prior experience with Newsroom Rundown software a plus.
