Sucherman Group (''SG''), a management consulting, executive search and industry intelligence firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco that specializes in working with the largest media and entertainment companies across the globe is hiring an intern for our media practice in our Manhattan office. We are offering a summer internship of up to 30 hours per week (4 days), $12/hour. It runs for 6 weeks with the possibility of extending the internship on a part time basis during the school year.
Job Description: Intern will be a part of the New York team, learning new skills every day. Working in a highly collaborative, team-based environment, the intern will gain direct experience in the media and entertainment industry and further his or her career in the entertainment industry.
This is an opportunity to learn about the media and entertainment business in areas such media research, consulting and talent acquisition and be exposed to the organizational structure and operations of major media companies, the different job opportunities within these companies, how these companies assess human capital and how SG provides strategic analysis, tactical advice and creative results for our clients in an atmosphere of integrity, respect and honesty. The intern will be assigned one major research project and prepare a final report for the senior management team.
Eligibility: Eligibility is for current undergraduates or graduate students of a recognized, 4 year institution. Students must have completed at least one semester of college or graduate school by June 2018, and those who completed their degree by June 2016 are also eligible to apply. Candidates can be from all areas of study and but preference will be given to applicants majoring in media, journalism or similar areas of study. A passion for media is a must. Applicant should be comfortable with clerical tasks (e.g., phone, data entry, etc.) and have excellent written and verbal communication, computer and research skills and be able to handle confidential information. The position is a maximum of four days per week, six hours per day.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research for major media and entertainment consulting clients
- Updating media company database
- Monitor press outlets for coverage of media issues
- Learn the Encore Database System and input candidate and company data
- Other general communications support as needed (creating fact sheets, scheduling interviews, etc.)
- Participate in staff meetings and client calls
