Comedy Central is seeking a Sr. Manager, Talent & Development to help oversee content development for the linear channel as well as for our digital platforms such as Comedycentral.com, wireless distribution, podcasts, DTO, etc. Specific responsibilities include:
• Regularly scout talent of all levels in stand-up and sketch/improv
• Keep abreast of new talent and current pop culture via attending shows at night, scouring the internet, etc.
• Bring talent of interest in for general meetings
• Maintain business relationships with talent, representation and producers
• Pitch and secure talent for branded content projects, off-air appearances and events
• Help oversee pre-production, design, on-site production and post for specials and series
• Coordinate show support with department reps within the network, including Publicity, Online, Marketing, Standards, Business Affairs, Promos, Research, Graphics, Affiliate Relations and Sales
• Review submissions, field pitches for and assist in booking specials, series and live events
• Provide feedback on talent's material
• Consult on casting for original programming pilots, specials and series
• Vet creative and advance production for talent participation in short form content and live events
• Advise on and negotiate talent budgets with internal Integrated Marketing & Sales teams, negotiate offers with talent representation
• Support talent and oversee production on-site for shoots and live events
• Develop, book, produce and promote monthly live comedy showcases in NYC
• Draft offers, deal memos and manage talent contract and payment processes
• Solicit and evaluate pitch submissions for specials for both multiplatform and linear programming
• Take pitches from producers, agents, managers, production companies, writers, actors, comedians, directors, animators, etc.
• Research and develop show & specials ideas that originate from both internal sources and acquired pitches
Basic Qualifications
• 5 years experience in the entertainment industry specifically in comedy development & talent
Additional Qualifications
• Knowledge of, and relationships with, key players in the production industry
• Deep and current knowledge of television, comedy and pop culture
• Understanding of the sensibility of the channel, and the ability both to execute it and expand upon it
• Strong written & oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and ability to multi-task
• Strong interpersonal & organizational skills
