Cinesite Montreal is seeking an FX Lead/Developer for Feature Animated Films. Ideal candidate should be highly organized and motivated with the desire to lead within a top quality and fast paced animation team.
Duties
We are looking for an exceptional FX Artist for our Feature Animation Division who can take on a triple challenge:
• Develop systems for stylized and art directed FX work for others to use
• Do shot work on a wide range of FX challenges
• Lead our FX team and be the voice for FX as we develop our pipeline and techniques.
Skills
• Excellent knowledge of FX techniques particle systems, scattering tools, fluids, and destruction
• Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work at speed
• Ability to develop FX systems and package them for others to use
• Ability to work from art direction and have creative input on the FX look
• Programming skills in Mel and Python required, C++ knowledge a benefit
• Excellent knowledge of Maya and Nuke. Arnold knowledge is a plus
• Solid understanding of the complete CG Pipeline, from asset creation through to lighting
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with creative people as this role will have direct contact with the Director, Production Designer and Art Director, as well as the CG Supervisor
• The ability to inspire the FX team and communicate quickly and precisely both the technical and creative requirements for their work
• A collaborative approach and positive attitude are essential
• Experience in animated movies, or stylized FX work a plus
• 5+ years experience in the VFX or Animation Industry is desirable
