Working on the Finance team with the Director of Finance, this position will be responsible for administering aspects of the accounting function for American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance properties including period-end close processes, financial reporting, royalties reporting to third parties, budgets and reforecasts, and ad-hoc reporting as required.
Responsibilities:
• Update cash flow forecast on a weekly basis
• Reconcile all division balance sheet accounts and work to resolve any discrepancies
• Prepare division journal entries including period end accruals, amortizations and revenue recognition calculations
• Prepare and tie-out monthly financial statement reports and supporting schedules
• Provide budget-to-actual and prior year-to-actual analysis with commentary
• Assist in the quarterly preparation of budgets and forecasts
• Liaise with staff and business partners to obtain any needed information
• Ensure music royalties consultant has all needed data to run royalty statements in a timely manner
• Assist in analyzing and reviewing all incoming reporting including international distribution sales, merchandising sales, music royalties, and touring activities
• Calculate and report third-party participation statements
• Other duties / special projects as assigned
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Public accounting experience preferred
• Prior Television or Music industry experience required
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, including analyzing and interpreting contracts
• Ability to work independently while also being an active team member
• Ability to liaise effectively and professionally with other functional areas within the organization and with external clients
• Ability to manage multiple, deadline-driven assignments
• Ability to work efficiently and proactively, with excellent attention to detail
• Intermediate MS Word and Excel skills; experience using Great Plains accounting software a plus
