BOX OFFICE MANAGER - SEASONAL STAFF - COLCOA FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL
The COLCOA French Film Festival is seeking one seasonal Box Office Manager for the 21st edition of the festival, April 24 - May 2, 2017. The Box Office Manager will be responsible for overseeing all ticketing and merchandising operations in the lead up to and during the Festival. The box office manager will work closely with the Festival Director.
This position will begin as a ¼ time March 1st, part-time April 1st-21st , full-time on April 22nd. The Box Office Manager will work from home before April 22nd and at the DGA starting April 22nd.The contract ends on May 2nd. This position reports to the Festival Director.
SCHEDULE: In advance of the Festival, there will be part-time work that can be done from home. During the 9 days of the festival, the workload will be full-time and the position will be expected to work evenings. During the Festival, this position is expected to work extended hours.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Train on ticketing software and procedures
• Interview, hire, train, and oversee 5 to 10 volunteers assigned to the festival's box office and merchandising desk
• During the festival, manage box office operations including but not limited to: sell tickets onsite, manage the main box office line, enforcement of policies, running of reports, and interfacing with customers
• Provide a top-notch customer service experience to all COLCOA French Film Festival attendees
• Answer customer questions and provide knowledgeable film recommendations to customers
• Coordinate ticket sales and ticket availability with theatre manager to maximize occupancy, maintain ongoing evaluation of tickets held back from sale
• Manage cash and maintain accurate money counts
• Solve critical issues in a timely and professional manner
• Act as phone sales representative in lead-up to festival
• Write and submit a full comprehensive wrap prior to May 15
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize, identify critical issues and work towards results
• Enthusiasm for our festival and dedication to good customer service
• Must be able to work well independently and to manage, train, and motivate others
• Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills required
• Candidate must be able to successfully handle multiple priorities in sometimes high stress situations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Google Docs preferred
• Position requires the ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as being able to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Candidate should have cash handling experience and experience in scheduling staff members
• Candidate must also have the ability to work with the public and possess conflict resolution skills

COLCOA, the largest French Film Festival in the world was founded in 1997 by The Franco-American Cultural Fund, a unique collaborative effort of the Directors Guild of America, the Motion Picture Association, the Writers Guild of America West, and France's Society of Authors Composers and Publishers of Music (SACEM). COLCOA is the acronym of ''City of Light, City of Angels'' the original name of an event celebrating relationships between filmmakers from Paris and Los Angeles, the two historic capitals of cinema. COLCOA is committed to promoting new French films in the U.S. and to showcasing the diversity of French cinema and French television programs. In 20 years, 676 films have been showcased. COLCOA has continually evolved to become a 9-day showcase of at least 70 films, with a capacity of more than 27,000 moviegoers in 2016, an average of 3,000 attendees per day, and an occupancy rate of 92%. With 25,000 attendees in 2016, COLCOA is now one of the four largest film festivals in Los Angeles. The festival takes place in April 24- May 2 at the Directors Guild of America.
