Duties: The Field Operations Supervisor works closely with the Newsgathering desk and the Image and Sound management team to ensure that field operations are in place to cover the day's news stories. This role is responsible for ensuring that CNN effectively and efficiently utilizes its resources for on-location newsgathering and transmission. Responsible for scheduling the bureau field production team, including Photojournalist, transmission vehicles, and other production equipment based upon requests. Includes, daily, weekly and long-term assessment and prioritization of requests to ensure maximum use of field crews. Scheduling also includes coordination of day of assignments that come from within the bureau and externally from other bureaus to support the production of features, packages, breaking news and special event coverage for TV or digital distribution. This role also works very closely with Senior Newsroom leadership and regional operational colleagues to staff plans based upon the specifics of each assignment. May involve working early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
Qualifications: College degree required. Minimum of four years experience in the news television industry or equivalent work experience in similar role. Must have strong news judgment as well as written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills. Experience scheduling teams or large groups in media environment. He/she should have standard knowledge of field newsgathering and have a complete understanding of Photojournalist duties.
