Full Time Job
CNBC is proud to be the number one channel for business news worldwide, and critical to our success is our team of Digital reporters for CNBC International.
We are looking for an experienced financial reporter based in Singapore, with a proven track record of writing compelling, accurate and balanced proprietary business stories, for a global audience.
You should have the ability to curate news stories based on financial events, comments from CNBC television interviews, analyst reports or other reliable sources. You will react to breaking news in a timely manner, updating developing news stories with catchy headlines, strong lead graphs and the use of context graphs.
An accomplished features writer, you have a natural nose for story angles that would appeal to a global audience and are able to contribute long-form pieces for special reports under tight deadlines.
Amid a rapidly-converging journalism landscape, you are a skilled story-teller on multiple platforms, comfortable with using our content management system to produce robust stories with relevant videos, images, graphics and links. You will embrace social media in the sourcing of news and distribution of content.
A self-starter, you are an independent worker yet a strong team player in a dynamic and energetic team.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
You should have in–depth knowledge of financial markets and economics, particularly within the Asia Pacific region. Substantial experience working as a reporter in a fast-paced news environment is also key, preferably in wire services or mainstream news outfits.
You have excellent writing ability and news instincts, paired with equally exceptional communications and reporting skills.
Knowledge of social media will be a massive plus, as will experience of working with content management systems.
Strong time management and multitasking skills are desirable assets necessary to juggle multiple stories under tight deadlines. You should also be comfortable with shift work associated with a 24-hour news operation.
