Full Time Job
The VP, Alternative Programming will report to and work with the EVP of Alternative Programming for CNBC, to develop primetime programming and manage all related resources within the department.
• Field pitches, identify trends, and help establish the strategic development goals for the Alternative Programming department.
• Develop new and current programming, including identifying and securing new talent for projects in development.
• Build and maintain relationships with production and/or co-production partners.
• Identify new business opportunities, pursuing potential deals where appropriate.
• Attend and act as a network producer on run-throughs, casting sessions, and tapings.
• Provide notes on cuts and scripts.
• Oversee the development of internal formats, from initial idea through to creation of episodic bible. Create and edit written materials and video presentations in order to sell both internally and to potential partners.
• Work to enhance current relationships with broadcasters worldwide as well as to help establish new commitments on Network's behalf.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• 10 years experience in television development & production at a network or external production company or related company.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
• Proven strong experience overseeing pilots and series.
• Significant non-fiction production experience, in multiple genres in either production or development capacity
• Must be independent idea generator and able to find strong reality subjects in the field
• Experience overseeing pilots and series
• Successful track-record with innovative show ideas brought to production and air.
• Proven ability to work successfully within a collaborative and matrixed business environment while working entrepreneurially.
• Strong external relationships with writers, producers, agents and production companies.
• Strong business ethics.
