Responsibilities CNBC Digital is looking for a strong UX/UI Designer to join the Digital Products UX and Design team reimagining our homegrown CMS. If you are technically proficient, creative, user-focused, and enjoy thinking through large-scale design solutions, then this could be the opportunity for you.
The UI/UX Product Designer will collaborate with team members to conceptualize and design web, mobile and emerging media interfaces for both consumer-facing digital experiences and internal tools. This is a hands-on, design role where you will contribute to and support the creative and iterative process throughout the entire project cycle. This position reports to the Director of Design and UX for CNBC Digital.
To succeed in this position
• You - UI/UX and have an excellent sense of typography, iconography and brand style
• You are someone who grabs and drags the bottom right corner of your desktop browser when you come across a new website to check its design responsiveness
• You can wield product design and prototyping tools like a design warrior
• You have a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, jQuery and Responsive Design
• You have strong technical aptitude and knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of web technologies in order to work with developers
• You have knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, user testing (Multivariate A/B testing), wireframes, customer journey and experience maps, design best practices, usability standards, and current digital trends
• You can create entirely new experiences, or work within the parameters of an existing design system, depending on the needs of the project
• You can communicate UI rationale to key stakeholders, and work with your team and peers across CNBC to collaborate on solutions to common design problems
• You are an advocate for the user and know how to balance business needs with usability needs Qualifications/Requirements • 3 years of experience designing large-scale web-based, complex experiences for the web and mobile products – media or entertainment related industry experience preferred
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles as well as solid knowledge of current web, mobile and desktop technologies, and trends
• Hands on UI designer with a professional online portfolio of beautiful and useful design that showcases a breadth of styles and approaches
• A customer-centric design approach to solving business and user problems
• Solid understanding of design fundamentals including information design, visual design, industry UI standards for desktop, tablets, smartphones and web-based applications, and ease of use best practices
• Expert in current design and prototyping tools: Sketchapp, Omnigraffle, Invision or similar
• Understanding of CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, jQuery and Responsive Design
• Must be organized, able to act independently, and be flexible to adapt to business needs
• Great collaboration and communication skills with the ability to lead and influence others
• Ability to evaluate site data and make recommendations for improvements to core features
• Familiarity with the Agile process

• Conducting competitive audits and participating in user research, concept testing, usability testing, and market research

Required Education
Bachelor's degree required; preferably in a design-related discipline, such as: Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent work experience.
