The Fast Money Halftime Report Producer will pitch ideas and produce portions of the show which airs for an hour at 12pm EST - 5 times a week – Monday to Friday. The Halftime Report is a fast-paced markets show where four traders with skin in the game discuss and debate the news of the day from an investor's perspective. Scott Wapner hosts the round-table format show which offers 'real time' analysis and investment ideas from traders with 'real money' on the line.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Developing and producing live and taped guest segments. Implement work independently with guidance from Senior and Executive Producer.
* Find and book compelling guests for the show.
* Generate original story ideas daily, tapping into a broad array of sources for ideas.
* Conduct pre-interviews of guests and based on their responses script questions for use by anchors and reporters. Handle any necessary travel logistics for guests.
* Write compelling copy and teases.
* Produce elements such as sound bites and video to support segments.
* Partner with other departments as needed (such as Graphics, Tech Ops, Satellite Operations) to place and follow-up on requests.
* Develop and maintain good relationships with financial and business news sources.
* Assist Sr. Producer in the production of the show.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 5 years of experience booking and segment producing in a live television environment
•Strong writing abilities, research skills and telephone communication skills
•Pitch ideas for segments
•Gather story content and video clips as needed for show use
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
•Experience as a Line Producer – to serve as back-up Line for the show.
• Strong understanding of the markets and prior experience at a financial news network or publication is preferred.
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with superior contacts who can work effectively and creatively under daily deadline pressure.
• Solid writing skills and editorial judgment are essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story are also important.
• Willingness to accommodate a demanding production schedule and flexibility to work weekends when and as required.
