Full Time Unpaid Internship
As an Intern, you will be embedded with one of our show teams, the news desk or our digital team, and offered the chance to gain hands-on practical experience of various tasks involved in putting together CNBC's output from London. The internship will allow you to learn much about the workings of a news room, make valuable contributions to your department and gain exposure to and knowledge of one of the world's leading financial markets in order to pursue a career in News.
This is an opportunity to intern with CNBC International for a period of 6 months with an immediate start.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EY RESPONSIBILITIES
Exact responsibilities will vary slightly between each division and team, however the main responsibilities of any News Intern will include:
• Working with show teams to select and edit video to match news scripts
• Building graphics using in-house applications and liaising with the graphics department
• Writing accurate interview transcripts
• Researching stories as directed
• Pitching, researching and booking guests
• Basic script writing
• Liaising with internal/external stakeholders at various levels on a regular basis
• Contributing to ad-hoc projects, which may include conducting research and writing/proofreading copy
Education and Qualifications
You will ideally be currently studying or recently completed a degree-level or equivalent course, specialising in Business or Journalism-related subjects
Essential
• A passion for Broadcasting and Media (particularly an interest in finance and/or business) with a desire to develop career in News
• Proactive and enthusiastic, with ability to work autonomously to deadlines, take initiative and keep calm under pressure
• Analytical with outstanding attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to effectively prioritise and manage workload
• Self-starter and fast learner, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a busy team
• Strong office administration and IT skills; confident user of Microsoft Office
• Have a sound grip of business terminology
• Have a knowledge of and interest in financial markets and business journalism
• Ability to work with confidential materials discreetly and responsibly
• Excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with strong interpersonal skills; confident in communication with senior management
• Willingness to learn and ''can-do'' attitude
Desirable
• Previous work experience in a similar environment
Requirements
• Must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship
• Fluent English is essential; additional languages may be useful
