News Editor, 12MTH FTC (Maternity Cover)
Responsibilities The News Editor will be responsible for leading daily and longer term financial and investment news coverage for CNBC International across EMEA. This person will work with newsroom and operations staff, personnel in our various bureaus, and the CNBC.com team to create compelling, essential content while leading a small news team. Qualifications/Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES
Editorial
• Work with news desk to book CEOs, analysts and other influential guests
• Work with newsroom management team to drive daily editorial agenda for CNBC shows and digital
• Help drive medium to long range coverage planning
• Chase breaking news and ensure news desk books key contributors
• Develop and articulate proprietary story ideas that contain investable angles
Team Management
• Oversee the news desk in terms of duties, development and administration
• Lead training and coaching of team members
• Ensure team consistently improve accuracy and quality of work
• Encourage team to think creatively and innovatively
• Act as management representative for cross department projects
Requirements:
• Extensive experience as a financial journalist/editor or significant experience working in financial markets
• Extensive knowledge of European companies and all asset classes
• Extensive contact base in the European financial services industry and among top European corporate leaders
• Proven ability to break news
• Ability to handle deadline pressure and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Extensive knowledge of personal finance issues and investing trends
• In-depth knowledge of geopolitical and global macroeconomic trends
• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
• Strong communication skills
• A team ethic and collaborative mind-set
• Confidence in negotiation and influencing skills
REQUIREMENTS
• Eligible to work in the EU
• Fluent in English, other European languages helpful.
