Responsibilities The MCR Operatives team are responsible for switching all live feeds for CNBC's on air production, recording feeds for any CNBC department for editing or other purposes, and are additionally responsible for switching Live video or playing out recorded video to our Sister offices in Singapore, New York and all CNBC affiliates. The MCR Operatives monitor the transmission playout of the station and have the ability to operate the transmission automation equipment.
Reporting into the MCR Supervisor, the successful candidate will be part of a team of 4 who rotate shifts on a fortnightly basis between days and nights. In any fortnight, the team member will work 7 days or nights.
The MCR is manned 24 x 7, 365 days a year, and is the nerve centre of all material used by CNBC which encompasses file based material as well as Live or scheduled video Feeds. Without the MCR department there would be no television operation at CNBC. Qualifications/Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sending & receiving of broadcast media and feeds.
- Switching of video and audio within the station.
- Switching of video and audio for third parties.
- Establish communication circuits for live broadcasts.
- Recording of News and Programme feeds.
- Operate Servers, recording equipment, monitoring facilities, signal processing kit (colour correctors, standards convertors, Aspect ratio convertors, frame synchronisers) and satellite decoders.
- Quality check feeds and recorded material to ensure it meets CNBC's specifications and nomenclature.
- Communicate the delivery of material with the appropriate persons or departments.
- Basic editing and audio manipulation including the trimming of material into parts for transmission playout.
- Ingesting material to server and manipulate files for edit or other use.
- Be able to operate CNBC's automation system for transmission play-out.
- Undertake basic fault finding and escalate problems where necessary.
- Clearly and accurately document any issue or fault and communicate these.
- Arrange satellite & fibre bookings when required.
- Maintain and monitor station broadcasts.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- Previous MCR experience ideally in a live television operation or an appropriate media qualification
- The ability to prioritise, multi-task and work under pressure
- An firm understanding of the Live Broadcast process
- Understanding of the Live Broadcast process is essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be aware and up to date with IT and Technology developments
- Ability to analyse and provide solutions to problems is desirable.
- Experience of Broadcast Automation systems would be useful.
- Flexible and prepared to learn new skills, embrace and nurture a culture of change and positive attitude.
