The Line Producer for Squawk on the Street and Squawk Alley is responsible for managing line production for a live show that airs from 9am-12pm EST - 5 times a week – Monday to Friday.
• Ownership of rundown creation and management. Oversee rundown changes throughout the day and relay changes to show and technical staff.
• Keep show on time and communicate timing needs with talent and production team.
• Calmly deal with changes and breaking news during the show.
• Write creative and compelling copy and teases.
• Generate original guest and segment ideas daily, tapping into a broad array of sources for ideas. Find and book compelling guests for the show.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with financial, business news, political, and news sources.
• Partner with internal departments such as graphics and technical operations to execute needed effects for the show.
• Create stock charts, lower-thirds, plug-ins and coordinate graphic orders. Liaise with other departments as needed (such as Graphics, Tech Ops, Satellite Operations) to place and follow-up requests.
• In control room, execute show vision by communicating with Director and production team. Preview accuracy of upcoming video, graphics and dekos
• Develop and produce live and taped guest segments. Implement and work independently with guidance from Senior and Executive Producer.
• Last line of defense before content goes to air.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 5 years of experience booking and segment producing in a live television environment with a demonstrated writing ability, research skills and telephone communication skills.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a live television line producing capacity with a demonstrated ability to manage and lead in the control room
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
• Prior experience as a Line Producer in a top 20 news market, national platform, business or hard-news environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the markets and prior experience at a financial news network or publication is strongly preferred.
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with superior contacts and highly developed line production skills who can work effectively and creatively under daily deadline pressure.
• Solid writing skills and editorial judgment are essential.
• Strong editorial judgment is essential - must be able to make quick editorial decisions while remaining calm under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story are also important.
• Willingness to accommodate a demanding production schedule and flexibility to work weekends when and as required.
