Role Summary
The HR Director - CNBC will provide day-to-day HR leadership for approximately 200 staff employees in the Technology, Digital, Strategic Programming, Research and Marketing departments to facilitate growth in a dynamic working environment. In addition, this person will be responsible for partnering with NBC News Group HR team on managing cross-portfolio initiatives including managing our diversity practices and outreach agenda, learning & development programs along with employee engagement activities. This position is located in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, which offers great perks and amenities (free fitness center, dry cleaning, gourmet cafeteria, Genius Bar, etc.) to our employees. In addition, our company offers free shuttle service to/from multiple locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Hoboken and Jersey City.
Responsibilities
• Provide onsite HR leadership, serve as main point of contact for all recruitment, learning, OD, benefits and employee relations issues
• Participate in and lead key HR initiatives, including: staffing, performance management, organization planning, compensation planning and employee development
• Understand dynamics and key business priorities of client groups in order to coach business leaders on effectively managing and leading their organizations
• Assume leadership role in resolving employee relations issues, coaching managers through the process. Partner with Law Department team to ensure risk is mitigated
• Advocate and offer guidance and counseling to employees concerning work-related issues and work to resolve issues in a proactive and positive manner
• Interpret and implement HR policies, practices and procedures when questions arise (vacation, maternity leave, etc.)
• Participate in the ideation and organization of onsite employee events related to strategic initiatives (diversity, wellness, L&D, pipeline programs, etc.) – i.e. health & job fairs, development programs, volunteering opportunities, anti-harassment seminars, etc.
• Manage staffing process, working with hiring managers and staffing center to identify recruitment strategies as well as ensure diverse candidate slates and top quality candidate selection
• Work with NBCU Training & Development and/or select consultants as necessary to provide programs and facilitation to ensure that training strategies meet employee needs, supervisory training and skill development
• Provide coaching to employees and managers, offering feedback and advice on issues in a proactive and compassionate manner
• Manage performance and union avoidance activities / initiatives in collaboration with legal and labor relations
• Manage/mentor more junior members of HR staff
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field of study
• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant HR Business partnering experience including recruiting, performance management, salary planning and organizational development
• Experience managing and/or mentoring more junior members of HR staff

• Master's degree in HR and/or related field a plus

• Experience with SAP and/or Brassring (or related tools)

• Must have ability to execute both strategic and tactical priorities
• Solid written and verbal communication skills a must, including the ability to interface with others inside and outside of the company in a positive and professional manner
• Must be able to work independently with the ability to juggle priorities and manage time to effectively meet deadlines
• Ability to and be comfortable working in both a corporate environment as well as a production environment
• Sense of humor appreciated, quick thinking and approachable nature needed
