Responsibilities Specific duties & responsibilities
The role of the Broadcast Engineer is to maintain and ensure effective functioning of all broadcast equipment and systems, to ensure the technical standards for CNBC Asia Pacific are maintained, and to ensure continuous and uninterrupted transmission of the CNBC Asia Pacific originated channels.
• Maintenance of broadcast equipment and work on new installation projects.
• Be the engineer on assigned projects responsible for planning, design and implementation.
• Manage system and infrastructure diagrams and design work, ensuring they are up to date and reflect any changes to the facility and/or infrastructure.
• Support the Broadcast Engineering function in ensuring that CNBC Asia Pacific's:
- Originated channels are on air without interruption at all times.
- Production systems are maintained and fully operational so that production can proceed to schedule.
- Post-production systems are maintained and fully operational so that post-production can proceed to schedule.
• Respond in a timely and efficient manner to all technical issues and problems that may arise.
• Perform routine and critical maintenance of on-air transmission equipment, studio equipment, UPS, Air-con and computers in an efficient and timely manner.
• Undertake front line maintenance on M&E systems (air conditioning, UPS, etc).
• Assist other operational staff to ensure their technical competence as necessary to perform their roles.
• The content of this job description may be changed at the discretion of the Company to suit the operational requirements. Qualifications/Requirements Requirements
• Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or similar qualification.
• Relevant experience in maintaining broadcast or mission critical IT systems.
• Hands on experience with equipment such as Grass Valley Stratus/Edius System, Pebble Beach Automation, Omneon Server and Evertz Router system preferred.
• Familiar with video transcoding technology, video formats and codecs and file-based systems/workflows.
• Demonstrated Problem Solving Capability and Passion for Challenge and Learning.
• Ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and resolve problems.
• Strong team player with good communication skills.
• Willingness to work shifts including early morning, late evening, and weekends.
