Responsibilities The Associate Producer will work directly with producers and senior producers to research, develop, and report non-fiction, non-scripted content for in-house documentary production.
Responsibilities:
• Field produce local and remote shoots and oversee all logistics
• Support production of original long form content through extensive editorial and archival research
• Write and develop documentary proposals
• Work with Production Coordinator and producers to create and monitor production budgets
• Identify interview subjects and conduct pre-interviews
• Manage project by organizing logs and media formats for efficient use by producers and editors.
• Screen, log and manage the transfer of shot material to proper edit systems
• Work closely with producers, graphics and editors during edit process
• Responsible for fact checking scripts
• Obtain and license third party material
• Coordinate with other departments including technical operations, publicity, promotions, marketing, dotcom, and others
• Create final reports (cue sheet/footage report) and oversee archiving process of project
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or other related field
• Minimum of 3 years production experience in long form programming or news for network or cable operations
• Field production experience
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadlines. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and late nights. Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice if needed
• Must be willing to work in NJ
Desired Characteristics
• Proficiency in iNews, Ardome, and Lexis Nexis are a plus.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
• Strong journalistic foundation and editorial judgment
• Strong writing, research and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
• Newsroom experience is a plus
• Knowledge of multiple camera formats and non-linear editing systems including Avid
