CMH Label Group, an independent record label in Silver Lake, CA has an immediate full time job opening for the position of Licensing Manager. The ideal candidate will have previous experience at a record label, entertainment law firm, and/or music publisher with an emphasis on licensing, as well as royalty administration. Salary range: likely in the range of $40.000 to $50,000 per year, but flexible and commensurate with experience. Health and dental plan available. If the employee opts for the plans the company pays a portion of the premium. Vacation benefits. There is a 401(k) plan that the employee may elect to contribute to.

Core Responsibility Areas:
• Synchronization licensing
• Master use licensing
• Mechanical licensing (Harry Fox Agency, direct licensing, U.S. Copyright Office etc.)
• Print licensing
• Working with music supervisors, ad agencies, and production companies to creatively pitch, identify and secure new synch opportunities our master recordings and musical compositions for TV, film and commercial placement
• Working closely with publishers for song splits, license requests etc.
• Copyright research (i.e. identifying rights holders)
• Data input and data maintenance (e.g. song split changes etc.) into two (2) royalty systems (Right Track and RoyaltyShare)
• Assist/coordinate with company President on various projects
• Other miscellaneous tasks including song registration with performing rights organizations ASCAP and BMI, creating label copy for each release for the art department to proof etc.
Qualifications / Experience:
• At least 3 years previous experience at a record label, entertainment law firm, and/or music publisher
• Excellent understanding of music copyright law
• Ability to think like a paralegal and/or lawyer - working with the company's social media teams, A&R etc. to advise on what licenses are required for specific projects
• Familiarity with licenses and agreements - must be able to read and understand materials and documents and have the ability to recognize and extract critical data and information.
• Solid understanding of the music industry along with the ability to be informed of the ever-changing industry and revenue models (e.g. YouTube etc.)
• Detail oriented with desire to grow professionally in the music business
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Prior experience in royalties and licensing
• Solid skills and proficiency with Office, Word, and Excel
Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills / great at building relationships
* Good with contracts (drafting, reading, revising, understanding)
• Ability to work under minimal direction
• Self-starter
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Must be able to work at and utilize all necessary functions of a computer in order to complete all the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Ability to work autonomously while being a team player
• Passion for music
