Freelance Job
CBS On-Air Promotion in Los Angeles is seeking a freelance Digital Media Coordinator with substantial Avid Media Composer experience to log, select, and sub-clip key media elements under very tight on-air deadlines. Qualified candidates will be required to use Telestream Pipeline and Replay to capture on-air live content. Candidate must have at least two years of experience working in a fast paced and demanding post-production environment. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
*This assignment will begin June 12th and end in late September.
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Ingest, manage, log and edit media files using Avid MC edit system (Media Composer 6.5 or later).
2. Capture and encode media files for editing, audio mixing, network broadcast, cable, radio, Internet distribution, and distribute via high-speed file transfer servers and web links.
3. Create and send viewing links of media content for executive review and approval.
4. Organize and transfer captured video files to external drives or shared storage for clients and vendors.
5. Author Blu-Ray and DVDs for executive review.
6. Provide end-user support for edit systems, music servers, file transfer servers, and basic computing and A/V support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a major in Television or Film production (from four-year college or university or two plus years related experience (e.g., a television network, network affiliate, major film studio, post-production company or advertising agency) and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1. 2+ years' experience as Avid MC assistant editor. Experience with Final Cut Pro, Final Cut X, and Adobe Premiere a definite plus. Must be able to use Avid MC to log, sub-clip, mark footage, etc.
2. Thorough knowledge of various media codecs (e.g., Avid DNxHD, Apple Pro Res, etc.), television broadcast standards, broadcast videotape formats (e.g., Sony SR, Panasonic D5, etc.), video conversion software applications (e.g., Sorenson Squeeze, Compressor, etc.), and tapeless camera file formats (e.g., R3D, XDCAM, P2, etc.).
3. Experience authoring Blu-Ray and DVDs.
4. A basic familiarity with internet security, firewall management, HDCP, IP Address, Subnet Mask, and troubleshooting router issues is ideal but not absolutely essential.
5. Able to make independent decisions in the handling of sensitive and confidential information while exercising good judgment and discretion.
6. Additional requisite skills: well organized and detail oriented, strong verbal and written communication, editing and grammatical skills. Must be able to work well under pressure, excellent phone manners and the ability to build relationships. Able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities. Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills to assure successful interaction with senior executives, as well as business unit contacts and key external partners. Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful and flexible.
